24-Hour Recovery Connections Part 13
Wednesday 6.20 am sober and a good sleep. However, last night I had alcohol dreams - not that uncommon - but I wake up a bit perturbed after them. Thank God I am sober and I am 4 months sober on the 8th of this month. I am away from home - in a nice little motel - and yesterday afternoon when work had finnished I had all the 'I could just sneak a few in' thoughts. So so so glad I didn't. I had dinner with the facilitators of my course - great networking and good conversation - they drank a little wine I didn't. Thank you SR - you are my lifeline. Off for a walk now. Committing to another 24 hours of sobriety.

Do you have a totem animal or familiar spirit? Some people associate with a turtle. You know who you are ;-) Turtles are members of the order Testudines or Chelonii, a more ancient group of reptiles than snakes or lizards, found in the fossil record from more than 200 million years ago. You may call those that live only on land 'tortoises', or you may call them all 'turtles', but whatever you call them, they probably won’t answer. They can vocalize, but aren’t too chatty. Turtles are very intelligent and make great pets. As totems they symbolize longevity and wisdom, peace, patience, and determination. The aquatic turtles in particular also have an agile, social and playful aspect to their characters, but all turtles can be good playmates, if you take the time to understand their humor. I worked with a Merchant Marine who used to bring her 3 rescued Sonoran Desert Turtles to school and let them roam around the building. They got along quite well with the young people!
Is it some kind of commentary on human arrogance that we only acknowledged like last week that turtles talk? You may want to read this really interesting article on turtle vocalization: http://www.newsweek.com/turtles-talk...fspring-265613
Please send me your recovery animal by PM or post about it here. I'll include one of your suggestions with the roster every day this week!

Great article. I don't think it has anything to do with human arrogance. More with human limitations. Literally: "Turtles talk. Who knew?"
I did, of course. Junior yells every time I take him out of his tank to clean it. I swear it sounds like

Hi all! I spaced today and forgot to sign in, but I was sober the entire time! Had a great job interview first thing this morning (maybe waking up at 6:30 am threw me off) and am over the moon happy to finally have a job after a dismal 8 months. I'm so happy that I put down the bottle(s) and am venturing towards opening up my world.
Sign me up for another 24 hours at 7:17 pm from foggy San Francisco.

. Courage, seeing the photo of the Honu reminds me of past Hawaii vacations. Thank you or should I say Mahalo.
Today was my 1st meeting back to my home group. I brought cupcakes & the chips to the Park. Our former site was no more, thanks to the City. Now, each meeting time must find their own place. My Tuesday Noon home group today was much, much smaller. Change is not easy for this alcoholic. Serenity Prayer time .....
I will be checking in here for another 24 hours of my recovery, thanks HP & AA.

12amET...in MD; collected my chip from sponsor earlier & everyone whom I chose to say something on this very special day, made me laugh or almost cry. Cake was delicious. Icing on cake(no pun intended) was my brother showing up right when mtg was starting! Said he was proud of me in front of group & would relay tonite's event to dad who's still skeptical bout my recovery. Very grateful
