I hate to say it, but today I'm grateful that I'm currently not working as a nurse, especially an ER nurse. While I have a passion for the medical field, I'm afraid for my colleagues right now. As a nurse you're already exposed to so many dangerous things, but ebola has a 70% death rate and it infects anyone at any age. This isn't just the flu where you can have a serious case if you're very old or very young. It doesn't discriminate.
I recall a time when I received a phone call telling me that a patient I cared for tested positive for H1N1. She was in her 30's and died a few days later. I have also cared for patients with tuberculosis, malaria, leprosy, necrotizing fasciitis, MRSA, and who knows what else. None of these diseases compare to the ebola virus. At this point, I just hope we don't get it before they create a vaccination. If I were currently working as a nurse I'd be faced with some tough decisions right now.

I agree that it's terrifying. There's another possible case in New Haven, which is close to where I live, and where some people who live and work in my community possibly go for their health care. I give so much credit to folks in the medical field who choose, yes, to go to work today. I'm glad that you don't have to make that difficult choice today, (((Lulu))).

Honestly, if I didn't have a little 1 year old I would go back to work in a heartbeat. There are lots of healthcare providers who still do choose to go to work that also have babies. I am grateful for them.

I'm grateful that a new grocery store opened right down the street. During my alcoholism this might have spelled trouble but now it just means I don't have to drive 30 min when the baby runs out of diapers!

Today I am grateful for hard times.
They are part of the process of molding us, shaping us and making us in everything we wanted to be but couldn't do on our own.
Hard times are awesome! Thank you Lord for hard times!
