Went on a binge for a while

Hello all, I had a relapse after having a good amount of time sober. I went on a binge for a few months and I can't keep going on like this and decided to quit again and hope this time I remain permanently abstinent. It got so bad to the point the other night I took my .357 revolver and was going to end it all but for some reason the hammer wouldn't pull back all the way. Please wish me luck back on the road to recovery as I start anew again today.

You will remain permanently abstinent as long as you just do not swallow alcohol. That's it. That's all you have to do (or not do). That one thing.

You wrote "Please wish me luck back on the road to recovery as I start anew again today." You don't need luck. Luck is for the casinos. You need a hug and a wee dose of faith. Try to look past your pain into the life that awaits you. If you will outline the life you want - the rest will fall into place.

One of the hardest things to accept in sobriety and recovery is that I am not in control of most of the things that happen IN my life. What I can control - is my own behavior and my decision to react or not.

Life is weirdly beautiful. Even the painful parts can be beautiful when they're observed from a particular perspective.
You have a sh1t ton of power here. I think that once you get sober and stay sober - you'll be glad you hung around. There's a lot of cool stuff going on out here!

It's good to see you, MDF. You sound ready to get free of it. It's bringing you misery & holding you back from living. Let's do it. We know you can.

Read and post often. Join in the community here. And if you are tempted to drink, post here instead and we'll try to talk you out of it.

Welcome back I'm really sorry you were so low MDF.

I sincerely hope you never feel like that again, but I think its a good general idea for everyone who has had those kinds of thoughts when drinking to make sure their firearms are secured?.

Hoping and wishing are good for intent, but do you have a plan on how you will stay sober?

D
