Where NOT to work....

Mamma mia! This is outrageous. This company previously offered unlimited beer on tap to all employees. After a series of incidents involving drunken behaviour they are now limiting it to four 12oz glasses of beer per day. The article also speaks of mandatory attendance at "happy hour" that starts at 4pm. But seriously, is drinking AT work really necessary or appropriate????

I am thinking of applying to a company that has beer on tap in the lunch room. Haha!

Whoever thought this was a good idea is either a drunk or a totally normal drinker. Don't understand at all. But when I was travelling globally in the 90's it was common to see beer in the cafeterias. So, what do I know?

I once worked on a job for one of the world's largest distillers and while the place was a manufacturing site, they had office/admin buildings and there were bars there with beer pumps, etc. No one there, just ghost bars. The story was that in the past the workers who were producing the whisky would be allowed a few pints of beer before and after work. I can't imagine anything worse! Imagine being half-cut and then on a production line for hours. No thanks, not for me.

My first job out of college, they would sometimes bring a keg to the loading dock on Friday for the employees. At night, there was a break room fridge where you could store beer and drink it while at work (night shift only after we closed to the public). My next job, we had company parties with wine and once a beer truck. The job after that, the place was behind a mini mart and on second shift we would go get beer at 11 and drink the last hour until midnight on the clock. So, yes, there are jobs that encourage drinking or just look the other way. If you are at such a company, it is best to just decline when offered. I do this at my current job. When they are mixing mimosas I just get straight OJ.
