Cool new here

hello,
i have tried to quit drinking a few times , ive always ended up in a bad depression plus tons of guilt for things i did or said while drunk , feeling like a fool , ive been performing on stage since 95' and theres been times where the alcohol kept it all going , ive been in the mental hospital twice due to stress / anxiety/ depression and i think the alcohol played a part in that, not coping with stress properly. Im sober for good now as of Oct. 16th , i tried to just drink wine towards the end, that didnt work either. I started getting depressed and delusional towards the end of drinking then i just broke down , dealing with depresion and anxiety/insomnia ever since i stopped drinking. im starting to bounce back but im still shaky and insecure. Im ready to be in the clear and i hear it can take a while .. since ive suffered from depression off and on for such a long time, im back on some antidepressants, i joined today cause i read some other posts and can relate , peace and thanks

Hey welcome and well done on being sober since October. I hear ya, I've been under psychiatrists in the past for severe depression and anxiety and alcohol seems like it helps at the time but actually it just creates yet another problem. You'll get lots of support here so keep posting :-) xx

hi and welcome Scott
yeah I tired just wine and just beer too but the same bad things kept happening.

I was depressed all my adult life...I still have my ups and downs but my mental health has never been better since I quit

I reckon you'll find your performances on stage will be better too

D

I know what you mean man alcohol seems like it helps at the time but all it does is add to the depression and for me the anxiety for the following week would be horrible. Just getting out of my house was a massive mission. You've done well though man 3 months sober is definately something to be proud of!
