AA Home Group Importance Question

For those of you who are active in the AA program, how important is it to have an identified home group?

It was a huge deal for me; I loved my home group, and I got commitments there, and that meant I was doing something for people other than myself, which was a very good thing. s

There is nothing official about this, and no one is required to affiliate with a particular group. Go to different meetings, and pretty soon you will know which one you like best. That would probably be your home group. If you find three meetings you like equally, then I suppose you won't have a home group, but so what? It's not like you have to sign up and take an oath of allegiance to a particular group. Maybe one meeting has a special night where they center the meeting around something you don't want to miss, but another meeting has something on a different night. Just do what seems natural, and maybe you will settle in with one group, or maybe not.

I think it is important to find a home group, do service, and attend business meetings.

When attended AA I found my home group very valuable. Got to know people better. Comfortable.

It was a women's group and I felt very supported, understood by these women.

I don't attend AA anymore, but in the early days, very valuable to me.

You don't have to have a home group tho.
