The first month of sobriety was SO hard...
But it seems to get easier as time goes by. I find that the longer I stay sober, the more I actually want to be sober. It was so rough at first and believe me, I have some hard days but overall it's good and seems to be getting better. I couldn't imagine the thought of NEVER drinking/using again, but I've accepted that and I'm ok with it. Sobriety is definitely a different experience than what I'd expected, but I like it and it's the best thing I've done for myself in a long time. So to anyone out there that is feeling hopeless right now, keep trying because it will get easier!
I totally agree, too..... It took 2 months before I felt "normal" being sober and started to enjoy it. I had to get sober for a while in order to see how sick I really was.
It's really nice to get to that point where you can't imagine going back!

Sobriety is definitely better, no problem there and worth fighting for when the cravings come on strong.
I have just been fighting a massive craving today and came out the other side feeling so much stronger.
Good for you Ritag

I have just hit six months and am noticing distinct improvements , probably the most notable of which is I can keep my cool, and I enjoy situations, and difficulties more- previously they were an excuse to moan and a reason to drink
Thank you all for sharing.. I'm on day 4 and last nite was hard.. Woke up
today without any alcohol in my system and am grateful.
I am looking forward to when it gets better and the cravings
arn't so strong.. Just want to get through this day..

Thanks for the replies guys! I'd just been feeling a lot better lately and felt like sharing. I'm glad it's encouraging to some of you. Sobriety is where it's at! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Encouraging to no end! At day 24 and I simply don't want to go back to the way I was! Can't wait for 30, 60, 90 and a year! If it's this good now, I can't imagine how good it will be at those milestones!
Thanks for the missive, good luck with everything and keep posting!!!

The feeling that comes when that nagging urge is finally lifted is so amazing! I think I hit it at about 95 days. It's great to hear that you've been successful so far.
I had a really bad case of PAWS from about the 5th to the 7th month. Knowing what was happening sure made it easier to deal with. I've heard this is the point many people relapse. Keep working a good program and the 24 hours will add up in a hurry.
I love my sobriety! My fellowship and service work in AA and involvement with this site gives me 24/7 access to fellowship in recovery. There was one day in particular at about 90 days that I nearly didn't make it but the friends here saw me though it.
