I finished a 35 day in-patient treatment program for alcoholism in June. Now that Im in recovery and have stopped drinking, I am trying to pick up the pieces my life was shattered into by my addiction. The last 5 years have been a nightmare: DUI conviction, bankruptcy, and unemployment have been the consequences. I was briefly employed twice during this period, but lost both jobs due to my alcoholism. I have since had two job offers rescinded because I cannot pass a background check. This was with being dishonest and saying I was employed in the last five years when I wasnt. The main thing is: How do I get a job when I havent really worked in 5 years and cant pass a criminal and credit check? I feel hopeless, but I am at least sober

Anyone overcome these obstacles?

Any insight would be of great help.

There have been lots of jobs I have lost as well in and out of recovery. When I was in treatment and another facility for almost 2 years...I stated it was due to family illness. Glad you are here and sober...we do recover together.
