new to SR
I had four months sober after a 28 day program and 3 months in a sober house. Came home to my husband and step-son. After one week I picked up a drink and was on a run for seven days. I ended up taking pills because of the remorse of what I had done. Spent two days in the hospital. My husband continues to support me but my step-son moved in with his mother. Today I have 5 days sober but continue to feel guilty and remorseful. I know I'm not alone but am struggling.
Welcome Gymrat!
So now you know what happens if you decide to relapse! Take the experience and use it to prevent another one.
One day at a time!
Once you get through this, you don't ever HAVE to feel this way again.
We're here for you!

Hey GR...sorry to hear about your current setback.....dig deep and find the power to move on.....try to steer clear of the triggers.....Im pulling for you...youll be in my thoughts and prayers.....Much Love....Xtophers...
Welcome to SR! Glad you found us.
Relapse is tough. Once we really know what we are, the booze stops being able to do it for us. I'm glad you are getting back on track now. Hope you will stick around!!

Hi ya Gymrat, welcome to SR. Glad you were able to find us. I know how hard it is to suffer the setback of a relapse. I did it several times before getting myself on the right track. You are doing the right thing in getting back on track and now you just have to learn to deal with the guilt.
What I did that worked was to write out what caused it over a period of weeks. I would identify new things and that would then allow me to be aware of triggers. Over time, I think I found all of them and now I am fine.
Peace, Levi

Hi Gymrat and welcome!
I too went to treatment and relapsed, but I keep on tryin'. It's been 2 weeks since my last drink, and I know how hard it can be.
I noticed you live in San Ramon. I grew up in Oakland, and spent some time in your area. I taught gymnastics for a short while in San Ramon, and took a few classes at the DVC extention there.
Last time I was down to visit, I went to some sobriety support group meetings called LifeRing, that I really enjoyed and found helpful. They have meetings in Concord, Walnut Creek, Livermore, Pleasanton, and all over the Bay Area. They also have online meetings several times a day. Here's the link just in case you're interested:

welcome gymrat. This is good place to learn, share, and grow and we're always happy to have one more in our family.
Do you have any support system in place now that you are out of the sober home? Do you attend meetings or talk to anyone on a regular basis? I find it useful to get the thoughts out of my head because they like to fester and turn ugly the longer they stay there. Coming here has been a life saver.

Are you going to AA/NA meetings? Working the steps? In my experience, it is very difficult to stay clean/sober without that kind of help. SR is a fine forum, but it is no substitute, in my opinion, for real people in real time.
