Talking day 5 - sobriety is awesome

Hi everyone!

I had a wonderful weekend, and the benefits of sobriety are really starting to appear.

I cooked a full meal for my family today. Probably the first time in 2 months. Tonight my son will have chuck roast, mashed potatoes with "brown" (gravy, lol), broccoli and cheese, baked summer squash and vidalia onions, and strawberry cupcakes. It feels wonderful to be able to make a good meal for everyone.

I also found a job today for which I am fully qualified. The manager requested that I skip the online application and come in immediately with my resumé.

It seems like everything is improving so quickly, but I wonder how much was actually always here. Maybe I just never noticed that everything important is actually more than okay.

I'm so glad I found this site. Thanks again, everyone.

p.s. fortunately, Tropical Storm/Hurricane Alberto is headed my way. While it may bring much needed rain, it may also cause me to disappear for a while. I'll try to stay in touch!

Congratulations to you! And a sincere thank you for sharing that wonderful post - it's scary to realize how many wonderful things we miss when we're living under the influence, both big (job opportunities) and little (strawberry cupcakes, MMMMM!). May you find joy in every day!

The job situation sounds very promising too.

that's awesome and good question, how much was already there staring you in the face and you just couldn't see it... amazing how we start to see again when the haze clears.

Thank you for sharing your great news.

Peace, Levi

Glad things are going well for you so far. Also consider going to AA/NA meetings. They are a life saver!
