Been going to meetings...
Been going to meetings...
I started out in AA in 2000, and I just wasn't ready for giving up and staying clean...
In 2004 I again went to an AA meeting- One which changed my life. I learned alot.........and then, just before my year of sobriety, I relapsed.
I blamed a program...I blamed everyone but me...of course.
I stopped associating with 12 step folk...I lurked here on SR instead of hanging on for dear life....
Now, in 2006, thanks to a lot of really really good people, I have opened my mind and started going to NA...(my doc was opiates) and it is like a whole other world...
I have a sponsor, I am on a softball team, I am working steps, and I finally feel as though there is hope. I feel healthier than I have ever felt...I have a new outlook on life...and today I am not just substance free, but I am learning what it is to be 'clean'...
Just wanted to share...

Glad that you are here AmyMarie! Yes it takes what it takes in order to sustain and sometimes we really don't know what it takes. I have a week today I think, but what is the most important that all of us have to remember is that today is the only day that counts. We will have new trials, situations, etc everyday to have to deal with and that is why we need not only each other but the program. Just glad that you are here!
<<<<<<< Your avatar reminds me of a picture of me smoking at the age of 2. I don't know if I still have it around or not but that is one of the reasons that I did post here. LOL
