medical question

I was a heavy drinker. Vodka mostly. I still drink too much and need to stop. I notice when I drink, I have a burning pain on my right side , right around belt level. What is that ?

I can't answer that, but a doctor can. If I were you, I would get to one right away, and most importantly they can't help you if you aren't completely honest with them..

Could most definitley be your liver. A simple blood test called a heptic panel which tests for elevated liver enzymes will let your doc know if your liver is in trouble. I'm not a doc, but I know all this from a bout with hep C a couple of years ago. By all means don't let this slide!

All the best,
Chris

it could also be your gallbladder- I had severe pains in my upper right pocket and had to have my gallbladder removed... I fully agree with everyone else... don't be afraid to go to the dr. and be honest.. they have seen it all! I promise!

The pain could be associated with a peptic ulcer, you really need to see a doctor to find out what is going on.

It could also be your pancreas, which is very important. I had a friend die within days of a pancreatitis attack. If it is severe, get yourself in pronto.

Hi Jerzguy, Welcome to SR, glad you here.
Simplistically you body is telling you to knock it off and will turn up the consequences if you don't. Each of us is different in the amount and the length of time the body will hold up and try to process what we decide to put in.
Everyone is right about seeing a Dr.,
please go and get the information and help you need.
Let us know how it goes.
Take care

the area that you are describing the pain sounds like where the asending colon meets the transverse colon. There is a bend in the meeting of these two structures and something could be wrong see a doctor...
