Just wanted to say 'hi'!
Just a brief introduction -
I left my husband just shy of our 33rd wedding anniversary - in November.
After a blowup with my 23 year old middle son on January (who thought he could reason with his father while he was in the middle of a binge), and that son's trip to the emergency room for stitches and an x-ray, my stbxh checked himself into a rehabilitation facility.
He's been sober ever since - and is going to meetings.
I hate to put him through a divorce on top of everything, but I feel that waiting would only give him false hope for reconcillation -and that is not going to happen. Ever.
Anyway...hi everyone!

Wow you've been through a lot. You are right though... stick to keeping yourself safe and whole. Who knows what the future holds - let your stbx-husband deal with the repercussions of his addiction and maybe he will come through it okay in the end too. Sure hope so. But in the meanwhile I'm sure glad you are here. It sounds like you are in a good place now and have your own well-being as a priority. That is a good thing!

I hope you're in Al-Anon. I also hope you've made it perfectly clear to him, in no uncertain terms and in as strong language as necessary, that you're through with him forever.
I can only guess at what brought you to this point in your life. Today is the first day of the rest of it. I hope it's good.

I have told my stbxh that I will not be coming back, but his counselor feels that he doesn't believe it. I hate to be mean to him when he calls me (every blessed day), but I think that's what it might take.
I haven't started at Al-Anon yet, but I know I need to.
