Sorry to all Americans - this is about Coronation Street

Has anyone been watching the A story on Coronation Street? It seems to me that they're getting it pretty accurately.

The nastiness, lack of logic and bile when she's trying not to drink - it's all very familiar!
Not very often you get things like this on tv....

I agree Bahookie, it was difficult to watch at times; they have done a reasonable job of portraying many of the aspects of alcoholism. It will be interesting to see if they keep it up. If ITV can keep it true to life then it may have some positive repercussions.

Ah, sorry, Stormy, don't think you get it over there.
Coronation Street is on mondays wednesdays and fridays I think, on ITV here in the UK.
I know Canada gets it but they are about a year behind.

sounds kind of like the show "intervention" that we have here in the states.

Hmmm it's not specifically about alcoholism, it's just a soap set in a northern English street that's been running for over 30 years. It's like a national insitution here.

It just so happens that just now there is a story about an alcoholic mother bringing her chaos into the boy's life. It's interesting both how I'm reacting to the storyline and how people in the office talk about it.

They really don't have a clue!

I'm glad of that.

No, robina, we had canadians over this summer (lots of them!) who ran away when the theme tune came on, they didn't want to see the "future".
