does anyone know how long you should wait between
starting suboxone after you've been using painkillers such
as vicodin or lortab.

what is a safe time period?

NO!!

YOu HAVE to WAIT 18 to 24 hours from the last pain killer!!!!
You must be in withdrawl.. If not the suboxone puts you into immediate unpleasesant withdrawal..
I am on Suboxone.
Go see a doctor to get some help. There are people here besides me that are on it. Looks like no one was around today, sorry about that. Did you start it??

Love Becky

Well, I see you are off now, I hope you got my PM while still on, I think you probably should have.
I hope you waited the correct amount of time, and I also hope if you aren't working with a doctor that you do go see one. It's really the way to use the suboxone, if you really want to get clean. The sub. is only a tool, that goes along with meetings and counseling, and other sobriety self help.. It's not meant to just be used alone. It's like a tool in a tool box, you need the other tools that go along with it, if you really want to get and stay clean.
Please check back in and let us kknow how you are doing..
Love, Becky

Yes i am under the care of a Psychiatrist. The nurse practitioner in
his office told me like 48 to 72 hours. But being the good addict that I am,
I did end up taking it sooner. About 20 hours after my last pain killer.
But all is well, no w/d's or anything. I was on it in March, but then titrated
off cuz my psyche didnt want me on it long term. Then I relapsed and
ended up back in treatment.
I'm using the sub as part of a comprehensive treatment plan including daily
12 step meetings, soon I'll be working the steps with my sponsor.
Im trying to do it different this time, cuz my way sucks!
I'll let you know how it goes ..this is a great web site. Im already addicted.

Welcome!

I didn't go the sub route, I had a problem with prescription downers so I tapered off.

Hi Serenity and Aler,

I was wondering if you'd both share and let us all know how you are doing? Please
Serenity, when you tapered off it in March, did you have any problems with withdrawals? Thanks.. Glad to have you here !!!! I am in a hurry right now, but I will get back to you on the questions you asked me in the PM..

Hey Alera,
I was just wondering how you are feeling now that you're done with your taper?? Thanks so much..

Lots of Love,
Becky
