How do you live with drug-addiction and borderline-personnality-disorder

Does anyone have info on how not to get back to an addictive lifestyle when you are diagnosed with b-p-d? I`m in psychotherapy right now(trying to modify my behavior) but I still don`t know what to do(I`m sooo AFRAID that one day, my impulsivity caused by the disorder, will get me to use Heroin or Cocaine again...)!!! I`ve just beat Hepatitis C by the treatment(I don`t have it anymore in my bloodstream since November 1st)!!! Anybody have any advice for someone who`s confused!!! Yours truly, Afflicted...

In my opinion, the best thing you could do is to get a support group. Whether that be your family, an NA group, friends, what-have-you.

It sounds like you've already started down the road to recovery. Now you just need a support group to help you stay on track. The good people here are a start. See if you can find an NA chapter in your area.

Hope this helps.

Incredible, you sound like a mirror of myself, and if so, you're in luck. BPD is not so awful as long as you understand it and are willing to make a cognitive effort to change your behaviors. I also beat Hep C in my first year of sobriety. I now take prozac and topamax for the BPD and work diligently with my sponsor and therapist. I have been sober over two and a half years, and fairly content with my life. The possibilities are endless. Consistency is very important and the twelve steps are the keys to your kingdom.

How Can We Get Rid of HepatitisC?

There are treatments that are available today that can cure HepatitisC. The reaosn why we are not sure if the HepC virus is still present in the blood-stream, is that the HCV-RNA test(measures HepC virus CONCENTRATION in the blood)is not yet able to detect smaller quantities of the virus. Besides, the treatments are not available to everyone(it depends on the condition, lifestyle-alchool habit, ect.. of the person)and only a liver specialist(Hepatologist) can determine, prescribe and follow a pateint. Some people have been known to be at undetectable levels for more than 3 years. But because of the uncertainty of the test, the patient still has to observe hygiene methods, and may never give blood. If you want more information on HepatitisC, Here's a web-site that may help you(not only is it where I got my information, but it is also an official web-site from the Canadian society For HepC.): http://comunities.msn.ca/HepatitisCMontrealChapter
And you may post or even send any questions that remain unanswered to John and Bev at: [email protected]
THERE IS HOPE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
