Hello, earlier this morning i was tidying up my son's bedroom and i came accross a bag with some white powder in it, i am pretty convinced that it's speed/amphetamine/meth because i have looked up the effects and a few nights he has came home acting like that. Is there any way i can test it to make sure that it is that because i don't really want to confront him about it without knowing for sure. Thank you

Hi Rocky...I'd get it tested ASAP. I don't know what resources you have to do that but I can't think of any powder any one would carry ina a bag that isn't harmful/illegal.
There are tests sold in pharmacies that require peeing in a bottle to determine if the person taking the test has been using dope. I don't know if there's a test for meth but I'd hope so. You're in a spot now where you have a chance to stop something terrible before it gets out of hand. If your suspicions are correct. Meth is one of the most dangerous addictions there is. If your son is using meth, or any other powdered substance that's illegal NOW is the time to put a stop to it. As much as you can.
It's really up to the user to make the decision to stop. Maybe if he's scared enough
it might do the trick. You and your son will be in my prayers. God bless

I don't know how old your son is but if he is a minor you need to step in right away to pull him out of the drug world. Even if he is not a minor I would still confront him about what he is bringing into your house... good luck

As far as I know there isn't a place you can get it tested but you can confront him and also have him do a drug test. The ones that are sold in pharmacies arent that advanced ... they are basic drug tests but if you call yor local police department or even look online and they have more accurate and update drug testing kits. Like Splenda said if he is a minor (even if he is not) you need to confront him about it and get him into some type of program and away from the drugs. Keep in mind that any type of drug is bad and highly addictive but hopefully in this case it is just coke and not meth. Coke is bad but meth is a whole lot worse. Good luck!!!!!

Put a tiny bit on your gums..if it is numbing..it's coke..if it tastes nasty..it is meth. But I would guess it's coke..cause meth is usually in a rock form..or little tiny rocks and not as powdery.

Wait a minute...please don't put anything in your mouth if you don't know what it is!!! I don't mean to be disagreeable, but you have no idea what it is.

If you absolutely have to know, then please get it safely tested.

i agree with ANN i wouldnt put anything in my mouth... especially something dangerous and addictive! confront him and get him tested... then move from there. there is nothing else that i can think to do right now.

It has a ton of information for identifying drugs. If you give me a bit, I am trying to locate a forum I belonged to about a year or two ago that helped ID various drugs. (It was mainly for parents trying to figure out what their kids had, etc) It was run by a bunch of pharmacists and people in the industry. I hope I can find it!
