Things I am noticing and Enjoying

Day 13 and here a few of the good things I have noticed.
  1. When I shave my skin does not feel like thin paper and it is no longer sore its elastic and bouncy
  2. I can Power walk for 55 mins, two weeks ago I could barely stumble to the car in the morning.
  3. Morning. Morning is just the best, I wake up and for a second I cringe as I expect the onslaught, hangover, fear ... Instead I am awake and feeling fresh and ready to go and join the day
  4. Eveything looks clearer, my sense of smell is far sharper.
  5. I laugh a lot
  6. My life no longer seems hopeless or unmanagable
  7. I am enjoying my work again
  8. I am enjoying just being with people although I get nervous
  9. I told my 19 year old daughter yesterday and she was so pleased, we talked for hours
  10. I feel like I have my life back
  11. I find that I am ok, I like myself and have a feeling I will love myself soon, then who know after that
And thats just 13 days!! What have you noticed?

Great list nogard, here's my contibution at two weeks...

I've noticed I dont dislike people as much as I thought I did (except for those before mentioned nitwits at Taco Bell).
I've noticed the dark circles under my eyes are disappearing.
I've noticed things like red lights when I'm driving.
I've noticed mornings, and that it's really not that difficult to be ontime for a shift that starts at noon.
I've noticed a general sense of clearheadedness.
I've noticed that I can paint, write and play music better.
I've noticed that strangers care about me, and I care about them.
I've noticed that I can breathe and things will be ok.

You will be happy with the extra money too. How's the weather down under. Starting to get that baking feeling here in Texas.

Hi Nogard.

I like your list. After 5months 3weeks I am still noticing loads of amazing things including bird songs, the colours of all the natural things etc..( and I aint trying to boot the pigeons into touch anymore either!).

Still the most amazing thing for me is that feeling of relief when I wake and I don't think 'what have I got?'.

I like birdsong too Jackdaw, I usually wake up early and hear the Kookaburra welcoming the day, its such an unusal and amzing sound (especially as I was not born in Australia, been here since '85). eddie put a sound bite off the Kookaburra on the Newcomers forum somwhere.

It took me a month or so for the dreams....then the first one I got was a using dream, I was sneaking around feeling guilty & shameful, trying to lie to everybody. In the dream I was thinking 'nobody would know..', then the thought of 'well I would know!' came.
After waking I fretted for a few seconds thinking I screwed it all up, then the relief of remembering i aint used was great.

What neat lists!

I am noticing:

The smell of the air at night
The clouds
How quickly dust accumulates
The mating rituals of guppies
What it feels like to be honestly tired as opposed to sick and tired
Sounds in my neighborhood, dogs, trains, ball games
How wonderful hot baths are. (I only had time for quick showers when drinking)
What beautiful human beings my kids are
How easy it is to talk to someone who knows my darkest secrets
How good it feels to sleep for eight straight hours
That I like my life most of the time

THis is a great thread guys! It reminds me of what I love about being sober. While I'm just starting over again, I'd like to add:

*the beauty of nature -- the stars at night, the sunrise on my early morning walks with my dog
*waking up having loads of energy
*being able to focus at work
*getting to work on time
*finding it's easy to get to work on time!
*mo money!!
*hope for new friends and relationships
*reconnecting with God and being able to hear God speak to me
*finding the joy of baking! Can anyone say "I want sugar!!"?
*no more planning on how to get, when to get, where to get that next drink!

Food tastes so good now I am going to try to eat every last bit on planet Earth. When that Hog Dog eating deal in NY anyway? Yeah I am putting on a few pounds. I'll deal with that later. Right now I have a powerful urge to eat some Mexican food. It sure beats the old urges. wink, wink.

There are so many great things listed here, good to read and many make me laugh, which is still a new experience (real laughter I mean). Its Day 14 for me and I am also noticing that I can listen to others more and focus as well as starting to be able to remember things.
