briefly awake from hibernation
I haven't posted in a long time, and wanted to A) tell the steady sobers that I still see posting almost daily that you all continue to amaze me. Your words inspired and encouraged me when I began my journey, and they still serve to give me the strength to choose to be sober today. You were right, it does get easier!!
To the other newcomers I see, please know that by finding your way to this site you have already shown courage, and are one step closer to acheiving the peace you are looking for.
(stepping off my soapbox..........) In other news, after 9 months of sobriety I still find myself often irritable, easily annoyed, and constantly sleepy. But I'll take those any day over hung-over, hopeless, and utterly lost.
Take care everyone!

It's good to see you again. Congrats on the 9 months. You're right, it does get better. We all have our rough moments, but it sure beats my drinking days by far. I might add that my down times are fewer and farther between. I hope you stick around. We need you here. Take care...

Woo hoo, other people are awake!!!!
Thanks for the replies guys, I was sure I was the only person at home right now.........watching the History Channel. True story. Volcanoes are fascinating me at the moment.
Tyler, my 9 month stretch comes after many 12th day ***k-ups :-). I just kept reading and listening to the people here, until i was finally convinced that EVERYONE couldn't be wrong about sobriety. And that cliche that both annoys and inspires me (say it with me now........."one day at a time"..) worked wonders. That, and chocolate. Lots of chocolate. Hang in there, and don't give up! I mean, do give it up! Oh you know what I mean :-P.

Nine months! Congratulations!!!
I'm early on and find myself irritable and easily annoyed as well, but people tell me I've always been that way, so I suspect that's just me
Just because I ain't drinking doesn't mean I have to put up with some disentested pimply faced youth who can't tell the difference between Taco Bell's 'Mild' and 'Hot' sauce? (provided I'm fortunate to get either and the right order...)
I know ... inside voice ...

Taco Bell!
Greg!!!
No joke, I was mid-nacho supreme as I was reading your reply. Don't get me started on the evil hot-sauce nazi at my local taco bell. I'm a big fan of the Fire sauce, but little Jimmy always only give me 2 packets. 2 packets! That won't even cover one double-decker! Oh man, now I want another taco.

Next time it happens, I'm going to paint my face green, work on my angry scowl and circle the drive through for a couple hours with this sign...

There's a theory that a lot of alcoholics are what's known as "non-tasters" and therefore tend to like really spicy food because it takes a lot of flavor to stimulate their taste buds.
I believe spicy foods can also cause endorphin release. I swear I've caught a buzz from some good Indian food! All I know is I don't keep a quart of Texas Pete Hot Sauce on hand since I got clean and sober. LOL.
Love and hugs,
Eddie

Nice to meet you too Wendy! Isn't recovery awesome?
OK, confession time...........I had a 7-layer burrito for breakfast :-).
Eddie, how do you feel about Tapatio hot sauce? I put that on most everything!
Dan, you are specifically one of the steady sobers I was referring to :-). I guess I've joined the ranks, though I'm just wading in kiddie pool. That was supposed to be some kind of metaphor, but its not working :-).

Best hot sauce I ever had was in a little falafel shop in Toronto.
It was kinda green in color actually.
And it took the front of my face off almost.

Sounds great. I've come to realize there is great pleasure derived from the pain from a good hot sauce. You know it's good when it brings tears to your eyes. You ever tried the Hot Chili Pepper oil in a Chinese restaurant? Heaven.

Bea,
Tapatio is pretty good. I'm partial to Texas Pete 'cause I used to live around the corner from where they make it. But I think my favorite is Louisiana Roasted Garlic!
Love and hugs,
Eddie
That sounds great Eddie. I love hot, but it doesn't like me. It's hard on the digestive system. It burns to the very last minute. If you know what I mean? I know, way to much information. It still doesn't stop me. I'm a glutton for punishment.
