just joined 30 seconds ago...

Its after 3pm in the afternoon and I'm sitting in my office shaking and twitching and I can't concentrate on any work.

I've had it with the drinking. It is driving me insane. Every night I go out and get completely drunk. I have to find some way of not drinking and so this is going to be my last attempt. I went over 2 months last year without alcohol and had a relaspse, now, this is my last chance.

I haven't had a drink since Monday night. This is the longest time I've been without booze since my 2 month sobriety. I'm feeling really bad now. The withdrawal symptoms are getting tough.

Anyway, thanks for reading this. I'm determined that this time will be the last time.

I hope, you try and find a meeting this weekend. Do you have any family members for support? Let them know what you're doing. It's great to have family backing you. You get to a meeting and get involved. You can't sit on the fence.

I tell you what I do, every Friday night i go to a recovery center and offer the people inside hope.
AA gets you out of self ands helping others

Glad you're here

as long as we are alive, we have a chance. Like Chris said, find a meeting. It's good support and so are these boards. Keep coming back and let us get to know you. Good luck in your journey.

Walking out from behind the eight ball is never easy, for various reasons.
But you've tasted the freedom before.
We can develop a thirst for sobriety as powerful as the one we had for alcohol.
Welcome to SoberRecovery.
Glad you came in.

Welcome to Sober Recovery, Anomie. This place is fantastic!

Hang in there. Make sure you eat, take vitamins, drink plenty of water and try to stay away from coffee. If you have trouble sleeping, try melatonin.

You've just taken a wonderful step.

Richard

PS. I'm down in Jersey freezing. Stay warm too!

Anomie - you can do it. You don't have to do it alone - and you don't ever have to feel this way again. Don't beat yourself up for slipping - that was then, and today is a whole new opportunity. You've got a chance at Door #2 - a whole new life.

Welcome Anomie..I can say that the only thing that finally worked for me was to start hitting the meetings and being "in recovery".. you mention this being your "last chance" ..you probably don't get off that easy...Alot of people get the opportunity for things to keep getting much worse...is that a sobering thought?
But you CAN do it...I won't go on, but trust me..if I can do it...I'm one of the ones lost relationships, my freedom, every earthly possession and ended up homeless..couldn't kick..3 treatments..a dozen(more!) medical detoxes..3 halfway houses and ..well..I certainly seemed a lost cause..and I did it..you can go one more day...

Hi everyone I haven't much experience posting in message boards - so I'm a real newbie. So if I do something wrong - bear with me or guide me - I can handle it!!!

Thanks for the welcome everyone.

The good news is that I didn't drink. I'm having a big problem with the AA mentality (no offense to anyone who this has worked for). I guess that is why I've turned to an online group instead of face to face meetings.
