4 months clean and sober!
Today marks 126 days since I've had a single drop of alcohol, or any THC.
After 4 months, I can say I'm happier for having left marijuana behind. I had used THC almost every single day for the better part of 25 years, so to go even a a day, let alone 4 months without it, is something I never thought I'd get to.
I never had a "problem" with alcohol, but like a lot of people, I drank more than I likely should have. While I don't feel the need to stay away from it forever, I certainly don't crave it, and have found a number of occasions, especially over the holidays, where I noticed I was able to enjoy myself just fine without alcohol, and never felt left out or missing anything while those around me had drinks.
I'm thankful for the journey so far, and proud of myself for getting this far.
I encourage everyone on the same or similar journey to believe in yourself, trust the process, and know that it all gets easier along the way.
My life has its ups and downs like most, but I've learned I don't need a substance to distract or dull my thoughts or feelings, and the old impulse to reach for a pen or crack open a beer is far behind me.
Good luck to everyone on your journey, and keep moving forward!!

We are all different. This may not even be relevant to you, but I would caution you to approach alcohol very carefully. Watch for the warning signs, and don't assume you can just stop anytime you want. The fact and also the bottom line is that alcohol and THC are not necessary in our lives and add nothing of value, while presenting serious risks. Alcohol being the worst of the two.
Congratulations on the sober time.
I'm glad I've ventured out of the marijuana section (which has been kinda quiet) and found your post. My journey has only just begun, after decades of daily use. It's good to know there are more people who are in the same boat and it's reassuring to read that long(er) term sobriety brings benefits. It's oh so easy to rationalise the use of marijuana. At least, that's how my brain works.
Keep up the good work and I'll be checking in every now and then.
