Longtime sponsor abrupt ending

My sponsor of over 10 years did something which virtually ended our relationship. It was a betrayal. She tried to promote herself with some high-profile people I work with, then became jealous with an attitude of superiority and made numerous hurtful demeaning comments that were competitive and condescending etc. Basically, she just stepped on me to get ahead. I never tried to compete with her. It isn't about forgiveness. This happened over three weeks ago and if I talk to her long enough the same thing comes out again and again. This is a complex situation which I won't go into, and has been very hard to deal with. She crossed multiple boundaries, including her own professional standards. My emotions have been through the ringer. It is just simply the end of the road. I see no other choice.

Violet......I have never had a sponsor......but I can imagine what a huge betrayal this must feel like, for you!
Especially, after such a long relationship.
I imagine that you might be having all of the myriad of emotions---painful emotions---that come with grieving a significant personal loss.....
I am wondering if you have anyone that you can trust that can help you as you process all of this?

Thank you for your insight. She was the key person in my life. I am exploring other avenues.

Dee, I think this could help us on these pages. Perhaps this thread will unfold as good information about finding or ending a sponsorship role.
Principles above personalities.

Dear Violet
As we see so often in this forum, people change. Hopefully we change for the better, but that is not always the case.
I am so sorry for the pain you are experiencing right now. This rupture in your friendship is similar to the end of a marriage.
Perhaps after all your years in recovery, the time has come for you to sponsor someone?
