3 year relapse

Hey all
a lot of new names. I had an easy breezy first year of sobriety then thought I could handle it. 3 years and a couple months later I’m ready to go at it again

see you in the June group 💪🏽

Make tomorrow, Thu May 27, 2021 your final Day 1. So much can go wrong drinking on a holiday weekend. Put it all behind you for good and hit Memorial Day with a few days sober under your belt.

Why wait til June? Start now. Any further drinking might put you in a really bad place. Stop drinking now and eliminate the risk.

We’re moving across country this weekend. We’re not blacking out drinking but we will have wine in the evenings. When we get to our new place June 1 it will be a good time to start fresh.

"We will have wine in the evenings"

Hmmm . . . that makes it sound so innocuous, healthy and normal.

Congratulation on your decision to quit drinking again. I respect your decision to quit on June 1. We are all different. After I set my quit day, much of my time was spent planning how I would deal with being sober because I KNEW it was the end. I did not use the quit day as justification to go crazy leading up to it, If anything I was decreasing because I was afraid of withdrawals. I called it my 1 year challenge and here I am now well into year 2!

I reached a year sober in January 2021. Year 2 is like a new level of sober so I can say it is very much worth it to continue on past year 1.

You can do it!

I always start my detox on a Friday. No need to be in major withdrawals during the work week.

Is your partner a drinker like us? Do they understand why you want to quit?

I have to be honest - I missed a lot of proposed quit dates by drinking through them...I’d probably drink through the move, then drink to celebrate the move, then drink cos unpacking is stressful...etc etc

i blacked out a lot of times too when I swore I would not drink that much. I was kidding myself I had any degree of control over the outcome.

Having 3 years away you know how the days can get away from you.
It goes in for as long as you let it.

hope it works out for you.

No idea what this means, but I hope you decide to not have any more alcohol.

How is your Day 4 treating you SP? I hope the hard physical parts of quitting are behind you 4 days in.
