78 Days Sober
Thank you to everyone for sharing your experiences and for your encouragement.
Things are rough here and there.
Certainly better than when I was drinking.
Trying to be happy is very difficult.

Congrats on 78 days sober!
If you want to be happier, practice gratitude every day. Here's an article about how being grateful can make you happier.

78 days is great!
I don't know if it's circumstances or not drinking that is making it difficult for you to be happy, but I found it took more than a couple of months to become at least content.
A bit of selfish indulgence in old hobbies that were put aside while drinking was helpful to get through that period.
After about 8 months of being sober, I'm surprised at how gradual the healing process is, but it has become better, for sure.

No one said you have to be happy all the time.
It is a very gradual thing, like GeoGo said. Sometimes there are also underlying issues like clinical depression or other life circumstances that have to be addressed - and you will.
One day at a time. Don't pick up a drink and things will start lifting.
Head up! Look toward the sun! (It's cheesey, but it works. )

Being sober does not equate to happiness. I truly must work towards happiness everyday. I have a habit now of waking and saying aloud what I am grateful for. Taking a minute to be thankful and grateful for all that I have been given. Somedays its a "fake it until you make it" kind of thing. Most days I truly am just happy to be clear headed, sober and living my life with freedom from active alcoholism. Gratitude really does work.
Congrats on 78 days WestsideGuy
I'm not happy all the time - I'm not happy now - but I know that happiness/contentment will return.
Its my default position now
Thats what recovery gives me
