No-one to share my news with
On the 14th of Feb 2021 I achieved 9 years of sobriety.
I have not shared this with anyone face to face, in a text or during a phone call.
I've realised that I have no-one to do this with.
No-one has said congratulations to me.
I guess its strange times we are living in.
I know my family here will be happy for me and hopefully proud too.
To anyone else just starting out on their journey all I can say is keep going.
If your day is going badly, don't end it with a drink.
End it by going to bed early and having a long sleep.
The way I got to 9 years is doing it day by day, one day at a time.
The days add up.
Don't doubt yourself either.
If you know that's all that matters.
I have never regretted making the choice to not drink.
You can cope.
You just might not be aware of your own inner strength.
When you stop drinking, it's not the end of the world. It's the start of it.

its 8 years for me today, I feel pretty similar to you this year. What strange times.
I reckon folks are pretty cool about sober milestones in all corners of the forums.
take care, even the “meh” days sober are better than any day drunk.
