2 years sober today!
It's a great thing having this much sober time!
When I made a year sober for the first time in my life(last year) that was a major accomplishment. It set the foundation for me to stay sober.
I can honestly say I have no desire to go back out there. In fact, I lost that desire long before I got sober this time around. I just got caught in a rut that I didn't know how to get out of.
I look back at the 28 years that I was out there drinking as a nightmare that has finally ended. For me life began at the age of 42(2 years ago) when I decided enough was enough!
I got all of my help thru the rooms of AA and all of you out there in recovery.
The 12 steps of AA have been instrumental in my recovery and progress is being made in my life on a daily basis.
I have made a couple of speaker commitments this week to pass on a positive message to other alcoholics and to acknowledge my own experiences in sobriety.
There are 2 things that I can guarantee.
1) Your life will get better as long as you don't pick up again!
2) Your life will get worse if you go back out there.
Peace to all of you!

Happy Birthday! Has anyone ever said to you that they are jealous of you? Well I am saying that now. But at the same time you just gave me a little more courage and hope. Thank you so much for sharing that, because it will help alot of people who are just starting (like myself)
God bless

Congratulations Tom! Of course you know what they say at the tables: the third year is the hardest. (I know, they said the second year was the hardest to me too. I'm betting they are gonna tell me that the fourth year is the hardest next September. )
Listen to the man! Please listen to the man! He knows that of which he speaks. Whether you have 2 days, 2 weeks, 2 months or 2 years, your life will get better as long as you don't pick up and your life will get worse if you go back out. Black or white, one or zero, the math is so simple that even us addicts can figure it if we put our minds to it.
