I do remember when I was very angry at my stepson, and I know I used language to describe him that was ugly and angry and very, very critical. I did not at all like who I had become. Looking back, it was understandable, but not OK.
If the same kind of language were used against me that I used toward me stepson, I would be very, very hurt. I'm fortunate that I never said anything ugly to his face.
