Drunk Brother
...my drunk brother and his wife came over tonight. I can't be around active alcoholics. Not because I'll drink but because they're ******* triggering for my anxiety.
I'm not at a place in my life where I can help him either. Though I doubt he wants help.
My dad drinks every night. I like talking to him and being around him even though we differ politically (we don't talk politics). He doesn't drink alcoholically - I rarely see him drunk or buzzed enough that it significantly changes his personality.
My brother is falling over drunk and I can't wait until he leaves tomorrow.

I’m sorry you have to deal with him in that state. Can you excuse yourself to your room to get away from him? Recognizing the trigger for your anxiety is insightful though. And the comfort that you’ll feel way better than he will in the morning . Hang in there!
Being around a drunken person makes me anxious too TWTOM.
I'm really sorry this is happening to him, but glad that he'll be leaving tomorrow. Shut the door behind you bro.
Maybe he'll take a leaf out of your book. I hope so.
But, he is not your responsibility. OMG his poor wife.
We're on the right path TWTOM. It's good, hey?

That's a really stressful situation. I still don't like being around drunk people and take steps to try and avoid it as much as possible, so I can't imagine how it must feel to be stuck.
Hopefully he'll leave tomorrow and you can continue focusing on your recovery. I am sorry about your brother though. It must be hard to see him killing himself. Hang in there, dude.
