Dr Bob's 3rd step Prayer

For me, this works better than the one Bill put in the Big Book......

Dear God,
I'm sorry about the mess I've made of my life. I want to turn away from all the wrong things I've ever done and all the wrong things I've ever been. Please forgive me for it all. I know You have the power to change my life and can turn me into a winner. Thank You, God for getting my attention long enough to interest me in trying it Your way. God, please take over the management of my life and everything about me. I am making this conscious decision to turn my will and my life over to Your care and am asking You to please take over all parts of my life.

Please, God, move into my heart. However You do it is Your business, but make Yourself real inside me and fill my awful emptiness. Fill me with your love and Holy Spirit and make me know Your will for me. And now, God, help Yourself to me and keep on doing it. I'm not sure I want You to, but do it anyhow. I rejoice that I am now a part of Your people, that my uncertainty is gone forever, and that You now have control of my will and my life. Thank You and I praise Your name. Amen.

Thank you for sharing DayTrader.

As part of my daily routine, I say the 3rd step
prayer quite a few times a day. It strengthens
me and reminds me often that i'm not alone on
this recovery journey in life and that I couldn't
do this with out His help, folks like you and the
gift of a recovery program taught to me some
28 yrs ago as I inch towards another sober yr
come August 11th.

It was suggested to me to make my own 3rd step prayer, if I wanted to. I use the regular one most of the time.....

"The wording was, of course, quite optional..."

Quote from Alcoholics Anonymous - First Edition.

I do too, but it's never really HIT ME, ya know? It means something to me, it just never really hits me in the heart. Dr Bob's does though. I think it's that section of honesty in there that seems so out of the ordinary for a "prayer" but is exactly how I pray - the part where he says "I don't know if I want you to or not but do it anyway" For me, that's praying honestly.

Someone just said in a meeting yesterday that when they "stall" their sponsor had suggested they switch up prayers. I'm a step 11 prayer person and this is the second time in 2 days I've been nudged to switch it up God wink.

it's looking like maybe He's moving in, huh? And we usually don't get it in ways we expect.
