New to Forums

Good morning all (and Happy Easter to those who celebrate) :-)

As my title suggests, I am new to the forums. I had a terrible two day drinking binge (primarily whiskey) a few days ago, woke up on the 19th and told myself that things have to change. I've tried countless times to do so before without reaching out and have ended up succumbing to my cravings about 3 to 6 days in.

since insanity is doing the same thing over and over again while expecting different results, I thought i'd try a new approach. While I have attended AA in the past and found myself amenable to their ideology, I am EXTREMELY uncomfortable in large groups. while i'm only on my 3rd day of sobriety, my nerves are still a little shot and i know I couldn't presently handle re-inserting myself into that environment.

I stumbled upon this forum some time ago and thought, "hey: here's a support system I haven't utilized before!", and thought i'd give it a try.

i don't want to ramble on too much about myself (i tend to be a little long winded), just wanted to introduce myself, say ,"hello", and express my optimism upon joining these forums.

thanks for your time :-)

Welcome and Happy Easter!

Ive received much valuable insight here.

I logged in here constantly ( sometimes never logged out) to just keep my mind focused where it should be.

I dont ever want to go through what alcohol put me through again.

Folks here are very knowlegable and can help keep you on the right track

Hey Kenway,

Welcome to these pages. It's definitely a supportive environment. I find it to be even more helpful if I post regularly. From one long-winded soul to another, I say go for it! No need to be self-conscious about how often or how much you post.

Welcome to this forum on Easter Sunday in what might also be called, "Resurrection Sunday."

"If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new (Replaced). 2 Corinthians 5:17

Find something in life that motivates you; that is of high value to you.

When your values trump your addiction, there is no addiction, there is self control. Galatians 5: 22-23.

Hello and welcome to the forums.
I think it's a great idea to give this a shot.
You'll find a lot of people here who understand. Like me.
Congratulations on three days, and remember, you never have to drink again.
Looking forward to hearing more from you.

The significance of this day was not lost on me, once I stopped and thought about it. Good Friday as a sobriety date and Easter as my first day as part of a support group :-)

I was also listening to a video on youtube about a 421 journal and the "law of attraction", then I thought, "huh... 421 …. 4/21 …., interesting" :-D

It's wonderful to have you join us, Kenway. It helps so much to know we're never alone. Congrats on your 3 sober days, & for making the decision to change your life. You can do it.

Welcome, Ken. Don't worry about being "long winded" on here. I feel like I'm the forum "windbag" most of the time. People don't seem to mind all that much.

Welcome!
I have been here since almost my day 1 of sobriety and I have not looked back or taken a drink. I have recovered. There are a lot of great people here.

Blessings,
DC
