Day 7! Dizzy, tired, foggy

Today I am at 1 week without alcohol. Ever since day 2 I've been EXTREMELY dizzy/tired/foggy. I have zero cravings but seems to be eating a ton more. Especially ****** foods like ice cream and Mc Donald's. Has anyone experienced the crazy fatigue?

Ups and downs in early recovery are common. As is eating a lot. Some attribute the eating to the brain wanting sugar since it's not getting any alcohol sugar.

Better to eat ice cream and Mc Donald's than to drink.

Congrats on the first of many sober weeks.

Hi and welcome Midvoliot - congrats on your week

I experienced all that for a little while... but please do see your Dr if you're concerned over any part of it.

Hi and welcome- great job on your days! Yep, that was my experience too - keep going sober and you can keep healing, (usually!) wanting more healthy foods, gain energy & so much more.

Glad you are here.

Hi Medvoliot and welcome to the forum

Make sure you drink plenty of water to stay hydrated, it can make a big difference.

Well done for your week without drinking, a week is a great foundation to build upon.

I'm on my 7th day as well. I do experience intense fatigue still. Idk if I can say this, but I put it down to the long half life of the benzos I've been on for 4 days. Read it could take between 4-6 weeks to entirely leave your system, even if the effects are long gone.

In any case, we're still in early recovery. Congrats on your week, the most important thing is that we're out of the woods. We just need to give it time cuz our bodies and states are only just now adjusting to the new norm. Hopefully, you're fine and no severe symptoms are persisting. If you feel they are and you can, go in for a check up just to be sure.

thanks. Last night was the first night in almost 10 years I got a full 8 hours of sober, uninterrupted sleep! I wish you the beat as well.

Mid,

I was off balance for many months. My world was cross eyed.

This was brain damagemfrom too much booze.

So much better now. Guess that means I should start drinking again.

When the house is clean, time to burn it down.

Not in this lifetime.

I finally feel what freedom is like.

Thanks.

Someone once told me that if he could give me anything...... it would be the gift of time.

Things get better definitely. I'm not sober much longer than you...... 18 months. But in that time so much has happened. Good and bad...... still sober, healthy, employable. Please give yourself time.
