I was in the hospital - and sober for my 3 months today.
I just wanted to jump on to add another thread about being grateful about being sober enough to realize that you are sick.
I felt ill and thought I would power through it. After a day of that and work I went to immediate care thinking it would be no big deal and get some prescription and back home.
I ended up in the hospital for internal bacterial infection in my digestive system. I was in the hospital on an IV for 3 days.
While drinking I always worried what would happen if I had a burst appendix or something like that but blacked out or hung over and didn't notice or even passed it as super hangover?
I wouldn't have noticed this was serious if I were blacked out or hung over. I would've felt like stomach pains and been like this is because of drinking - skip the doctor.
I'm so thankful I was sober to feel something was wrong. Sober to drive myself to immediate care. I was able all the questions in regards to alcohol use that day, that week, that month as sober! The doctors/nurses see so much of it they all said it was a wonderful start, keep it up!
I finally got released, picked up my scripts and know I will heal faster sober, and no anxiety over any of it.
I celebrate my 3 months today - and even though I spent the weekend in the hospital it still beat the blackouts, hangovers and anxiety. I just wanted to share.
