But when you quit you quit
but you always wish
that you knew it was your
last shot.
Did 5 days and a Saturday.
In control and had a nice insight.
Am appreciative of those good souls input.

Hi BM
bit confused by the past tense - are you still on that sober streak?

Hey mate. Yea Na I gave in on Sunday. All good, still got control. Can stop after perscibed amount. I’ve lit a flame in my mind however and have made steps towards the idea of possibility giving up for longer? Sorry for wasting your time. Kiaora.

You haven't wasted anyones time. I and the other folks here give their responses freely.

I hope you give some more thought to that idea that you have 'control' tho.

Gonna be blunt man - people who have control over their drinking don't have trouble lasting 5 days...and people who have their drinking under control don't come to Recovery websites in the first place.

Don't settle for the status quo because change scares you.
Go for the gold man

Good luck Blue Mask. Ultimately i realized maintaining control over drinking was really the drink controlling me. It took far too much energy to plot, plan, make goals to limit, etc. I agree with Dee that you have wasted no one’s time and hope you will keep coming here for support or ideas if you want to think about a paradigm shift.

Blue, in a previous post you mentioned it would be your first sober Saturday in a long time. Then it was your first sober Sunday morning, no?
Did you regret waking Sunday sober?
Checking back in here sounds like you regret picking back up Sunday.
Just trying to understand where you are at with this. Letting go once and for all is hard but so worth it.
Good luck and merry Christmas.

Giving up for the long term was very scary for me. Coming to SR everyday, multiple times a day in the first month, really helped getting me through. I read and re-read threads that I related to and some that showed me what could happen if I kept drinking. It helped reinforce not drinking even for a few hours at a time until eventually I could get through the danger hours (for me starting around 4pm) without thinking about alcohol. I’m at 143 days now and never thought I could get this far, still can hardly believe it.
