What keeps me sober
I have been in recovery for 33 years now and it has not been easy, but this Scripture that I read last night said it all for me. Psalm 40:2 "The Lord lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; He set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand." Jesus is the only one who has understood and held me up therefore this is what I will do forever. Psalm 30:12 O Lord my God, I will give you thanks forever.
Continuous sobriety and recovery each
and everyday is a gift that we should never
take for granted. It is a blessing we cherish
and is shared with others traveling along
the same recovery with us.
When I keep and practice my faith and
beliefs taught to me as a child adding to
what was taught to me and have learned
in recovery , then I need not waste one
minute of worrying about anything.
Congratulations on your 33 yrs sobriety
and welcome to SR.

Highercall I am 74. I sure don't want to discourage anyone but I must say that I still struggle after all these years with wanting to use. The habit is broken but not the desire. I am so thankful I found this site.
