Any Advice?
Just go. Have a seat, and listen. You don't have to talk if you don't want to. Listen to others and look for people who have what you want. It will take a few meetings, but when you find that person, ask them to sponsor you and guide you through the steps. The program of AA is working the steps, not just going to meetings.
Just remember that although going to your first meeting is weird and intimidating, everyone who is in that room is in the same boat as you and at one point or another went to their first meeting. It can be surreal, or uplifting, or terrifying... but remember that you are the most important person in that room: a newcomer looking to get sober. Those folks know where you have been, and they are just as much an alcoholic as you regardless how many days or decades it's been since their last drink.
Congratulations on having the courage to take this step! Please let us know how it goes.

I have also found that AA meetings can differ significantly. I've been to some where the people just rub me the wrong way. Or the format of the meeting is not what I want.
The point is - if it isn't what you're looking for, try another. Different time, different location. Make sure it suits your needs for help.
All the best!
