Going to AA tomorrow.
I'm going to go to an AA meeting tomorrow. Never been before... too scared.
I really want to live a sober life. I hope I don't just park in the street and leave.
I usually start drinking at 5 pm, the meeting I plan to go to is at 6:30. It says it's a closed meeting, but if I read correctly that just means it's closed to anyone that isn't there to quit drinking?
I'm terrified, but I hope it works.

Yes, "closed" means only those who want to stop drinking.
I don't think I could have gotten sober without AA. It's a super weird feeling to walk through the door of your first meeting, but everyone there has been through the same thing. You'll be welcome there.
Good luck to you!

I was scared witless, too. I had to circle the block a few times but didn't go in.
Finally, I decided I wanted to get sober more than I wanted to drink and went in.
Nobody seemed to notice me as being new. When the speaker asked if it was anyone's first meeting I was too chicken to raise my hand.
It took me about five different meetings before I said anything, but I sure did absorb a lot of wisdom.
I think it's great you're going. You have nothing to fear. And everything to gain.
Best to you and let us know how it goes.

Good for you!
I went to my first meeting a few weeks ago. It was hard to get through the door but I was so glad I went. There was something for me in that action of going, before hearing anything or participating, that has helped me to accept that I'm an alcoholic. It felt like a powerful step in itself. Plus everyone is really nice to newcomers.
Keep us posted! xx
