Day Two of Sobriety
I don’t have the energy for the details, but I have finally suffered my first real consequence to my drinking and using. In this really weird way, I am relieved. I don’t feel like I have a choice about getting sober anymore. I can see what will happen if I continue- I will end up losing my kids and my life. I have wanted to quit for so long as I was sober for many years and know how much easier it is.
Anyway, I made it through the first day. Now onto day number two. This is not going to be easy, but I am taking it one day at a time.
Any tips? AA didn’t seem to work for me but I am thinking I should give it a try again. I want sober friends, too.

Congrats on finding your way to sobriety. Many different paths, the same peace and freedom finally to be found.
Have you looked into AVRT or Rational Recovery? I'm not an AA guy, and I have nowhere close to the wisdom and experience of many here, but those two have served me well.
Welcome and congrats again.

Good for you, I used only SR in the beginning. I was here almost every night reading and posting. I would have tried anything to get sober so maybe trying AA again would help. Make sobriety the priority in your life for awhile. You don’t have to do it alone. There are lots of support options my friend
The best thing I ever did to strengthen my sobriety was to start practicing gratitude every day. Being grateful can make you happier too.

Hi Paige. I don't currently attend AA but found it very helpful in early sobriety. Both of my rehab stays were 12-step but there are other roads you can take--a good plan is very important.
SR is a vital part of my recovery; I come here at least several times a day.
Wishing you all the best on your sober journey.

I like AA. It took me a while to accept that I needed it in addition to reading recovery books and posting on SR. they talk about the gift of desperation. I think you should give it another shot. Congrats on your sober journey. Don't give up. I never thought I'd be able to put together a month much less 4. You've got all of our support <3
