A Perfect Day.....

It would be a perfect day to sit with a bottle of wine and enjoy the spring weather. So my AV has suggested. Yes he still chatters form time to time, even after a year. But since I would like to remember this beautiful day, and not wake up ashamed and feeling terrible tomorrow, I will settle for a wonderful day in the sunshine, with my kids, cheering on the new plants in the 60’ flower bed that I put in last year in the very early days of sobriety to give me happy thoughts. Happy thoughts can be tough to find, but I found one today. Waking up sober tomorrow morning! Now that would be a truly perfect day.
Stay strong!

It is awesome to see how responsible
you are in your sober life. Enjoying the
gift of a beautiful garden you worked
hard to achieve and to see the rewards
of amazing lovely flowers.

It doesn't stop there because many
of us have found success in living
a continuous sober life with purpose
day in and day out.

Alcohol never worked for me before
I entered recovery in 1990 and I definitely
know it will never work for me today some
27 yrs later.

We had about 3 or 4 inches of snow to
hit us down here in Louisiana this past
Winter which took out some of my plants
and made me wonder if i should put in
the effort to replace and restore what
I lost.

Then Spring came, the gardens centers
are loaded with abundant flowers and
plants and you should see me now.

I began to see new grow on my plants
and flowers are budding, vibrant flowers,
a renewed sense of purpose to continue
on my path of keeping my garden of paradise
thriving to appreciate and enjoy.

The more i put my hands on, tilling the
soil, fertilizing, the more i see the miracle
of the hard work pays off.

I almost called it quits on my lovely
garden a few months ago, but with
determination i got back in it and
thank God i did.

Now we have sightings of Hummingbirds
feeding on fresh red nectar, bees are buzzing,
Horseflies fluttering about, birds are
chirping, feeding on seeds and waiting
on the butterflies all being drawn to the
bright vibrant colors and new growth.
Man, I'm excited now...!!!

If i was still in my addiction there would
be no garden of paradise to enjoy. Life
would be dark and I would be sick.

I think i'll stay sober and live to bring
life where it belongs. In my heart and
garden of paradise.

Just like you.

As always, you all are a wonderful encouragement! It is hard to beat spring with the new life poking its head up everywhere in so many wonderful ways. My backyard has a bit of a ways to go yet, but I couldn’t resist ordering a second round of day lilies this year. I’ve finished moving plants around, readjusting the sprinklers, so all that is left is to try and be patient waiting on the good Lord’s hand to make it all wonderful. I’m not very patient tho........sheesh!! Working outside feels much better than last year…just say’n!
