Checking in...

Hello dear friends.

Just a quick check in to say that I'm 35 days/5 weeks sober. I haven't been posting much lately as life's been pretty hectic, but I read in the newcomers at least a couple of times a day. Things have been pretty smooth sailing (this time around) which has probably contributed to why I've not been as engaged on SR, but I am aware that this is usually the point where I let the AV take over. My longest sobriety stretch has been around 7 weeks. So it may be time to add some more tools and resources to my plan.

AA meetings are something I haven't tried yet, but I am certainly considering them as an option. I like the idea of a women's meeting. I'm a very introverted person and I find it difficult to open up. There aren't a huge amount of meetings in my area, but more AA than SMART. There's a women's meeting on tonight if I can pluck up the courage!

Any other tips, advice or words of encouragement for me at this point?

Hi Timetoshineagain. Your sober time is fantastic. From personal experience, I would agree that you should check in with SR and read and post as much as you can, especially since you're coming up on a critical time period for you. . In the past I became complacent with my sobriety and stopped checking in with SR and sadly relapsed.

Exactly, Rar. I think I do become a bit complacent around the 5-7 week mark. I'll try to post a bit more.

Good to see you, time2shineagain. Congratulations on your sober time.

I hope that you keep doing things for your sobriety and recovery - checking in to SR, going tomAA meetings.

I have often heard it said that if you aren't working on your recovery, you are working on a relapse.

My ears perked up when I first heard that. A relapse is the last I want.

Again, congrats on your sober time.

if things get tough keep in mind ...

its the 1st drink that gets us drunk not the 20th

we cant get drunk without that 1st drink

our choice is between miserable unhappy drunken drinking and all the consequences

or

not taking 1 drink

God bless
