There is someone here that recently had a bad experience -- can't recall who, but they will reach out I hope.

My view is that it is misused for abstinence but can help with moderation. It acts to inhibit the dopamine receptors, which is not a good thing to do all the time, but does take the joy out of drinking.

My advice -- stop. Its so much simpler (but not easy). No more debates with yourself etc.

I sent you a private message. Not giving medical advice. In general it has been reported to have a high success rate but yes you can google it. I don't think people on this forum believe in a magic pill however.

When I was in my early days of sobriety, I tried all the otc meds.

The only one that seemed to help was b12. I take that, an over 50 multi, some krill oil, and garlic pills. I also take Lisonpril for minor highmbp. It was around 145/85 or so.

I had horrid agoraphobia for months and am really now normalizing.

I haven't had a major relapse since being clean and I think that is why I am feeling ok these days.

I still obsess sometimes, but journaling here helps.

So far when I stray away from sr, I start to freak out a bit. It is my new drug.

That, and exercise. I started out only being able to run about 100 yards at a time. Now I go 1 mile with out walking. My goal is 3 miles. Then i will start lowering the time.

Baby steps. I may be slow, but I am faster than everyone on the couch.

Thanks.

It did seem to help with cravings but for me it had too many side effects, mostly nausea and upset stomach.

It was useful to me, but it did make me feel kinda foggy, as if I had a slight hangover for about a week--but that did go away. When I did try drinking while on it I opened a beer and couldn't finish it, it just didn't seem interesting. For me it did what it was advertised to do.

Didn't find it assisted cravings. Helpful for moderation, certainly no magic pill as some literature implies.
