My first drinking dream - whoa

I don't even recall the details but holy smokes - I've read about others having this experience. It was really intense. It even took me a while to get my head straight that I didn't drink and it was just a dream. Then I was relieved but even now just a bit shook up.

Wowza.

Oh, ya, I remember those. Just had one the other night consisting of hiding all the beer I had bought and it was sitting out in the open...panic attack in a dream! Glad it was just a dream.

Yikes. I bet it was definitely a relief to know it was only a dream. I have escaped them thus far. Your subconscious is processing your newfound sobriety, which is a good thing. I could be way off, but this may be a healthy way of actually letting go deep in your psyche... March on!

It is SUCH a relief when you wake up and realize you are still sober!

It really was crazy to feel that. And what's nuts is that even right now at the office I have this lingering feeling of regret! Which I like in a way, knowing I'm sober af.

Agreed re: subconscious. So interesting.

YIKES! I haven't had any yet. Actually, I didn't even have any smoking dreams when I quit years ago. Good thing! I have had dreams though where when I woke up, wasn't sure if they were real. I had to fully wake up and think about it.

Yeah Rar they are called hypnopompic hallucinations. I haven't had any drinking dreams..but after 1 day off smoking had smoking dream last night. But was horrible, couldn't smoke because I spent all the dream looking for a light.

Those dreams can shake me up, I hadn't had any for the longest time then I had one that I drank a day before I had my first year sober. In my dream I literally drank on purpose to sabotage my year. Woke up feeling mortified.

While I've only had perhaps one or two such dreams in six years, I believe they should be welcomed and not feared. There are so many aspects of my drinking life that will never be completely resolved, that I am only surprised that I haven't had more such dreams. Better a dream than a lucid reality!

They can leave you a little shaken, but the relief in realising it was just a dream is palpable
