Slipped

I am so disappointed in myself. House had been alcohol-free, but i made the split second decision to pick some up. I was a bit surprised by how quickly the decision was made and I was committed (and relieved). This back patting lasted for 24 hours before I was down and out. I completely wrecked Christmas Eve. On the positive side, I am so committed now...just need to figure out how to keep that alive.

Hey. I know, its that easy to decide to drink and before you know it, the booze is gone and you feel like crap. It's great though that you only drank for a night and came straight back. Making the commitment again straight away and getting back on track is the most important thing now. This time of year is really tough. I've had a fecking brutal afternoon but its passing. We are here for each other. Be kind to yourself. Merry Christmas. Gabe x

It’s often said round here that the decision to drink happens before th actual drinking.
Post here first next time, okay?
We’ll help.

Will do, Maudcat. I need to post more often. You folks are the only ones that know this dark side of me. My wife would flip.
Gabe: I am sorry to hear your afternoon has been so rough. I am hopeful you’re weathering smarter than I did last night.
Thanks again for the response and support.

Boy can I understand that AV leading to a bad decision and once its been made...well its done and over for me... I am well on my way to going a hundred miles an hour to drunk and passing out. Good for you to come back in here with a renewed view of quitting. Make a plan, read, read, plan, post and whatever else helps. Merry Christmas - do what you can to ease your physical symptoms today and try not to be too hard on yourself. You fell, now you are back up again.

Slip up were part of the recovery process..
At least they were for me.

Don't beat self up!
What's done is done... Over!

Learn from this... Make a PLAN and write it down.
IN case there is a next time. Write down what you will do in case.

Remember this word... Ask yourself the next time you crave a drink..

Are you?

Hungry
Angry
Lonely
Tired

Hop back on the wagon.

Best to you and all..

Let's stay sober together.

Good job checking in here. It’s been hard for me when I slip to face the music again. So good on you! The only reason why I didn’t drink last night is because I was glued to SR all morning before the festivities. For me, staying close is what’s working so far. Keep your head up. You can do this. We all can.

I'm glad you are totally committed to your sobriety, because if you are, then you can make it work. Decide what you need to do to get back at it, and go for it.

It does go off the rails quick doesn't it? I hate it when that happens. All you can do is don't beat yourself up and keep trying.

Prayers for you itsbeen.

Those first few days, weeks, and months were so hard to deal with.

I still crave. My AV says make all the troubles go away. Have a few drinks, nobody really cares.

But I care.

I love feeling solid and aware. Dealing w my emotions with a clear head.

Facing my perceived issues head on. Working out and seeing progress.

Once over the physical addiction, about a month, it was all mental.

Counting my blessings.

Thanks.
