Day 5...whew!

5 days in and was sitting on the bed and all of a sudden Wham! “I gotta get some beer!” arrived in my mind.
Phenomenal craving- I planned how to do it in a split second- then I just said No
It worked- but the feeling took me by surprise as if out of nowhere
Now I’m wise to it
This is hard but I am fighting

Nicely done!!!! As addicts/alcoholics it is the "easy way" to pick up a drink. You fought it and won. It only gets easier as new pathways in the brain are formed and new "easy ways" are found. Proud of ya

Every time you say 'no' to the voice, it gets fainter. Eventually you won't hear it at all.

Those cravings are a real pain at first. I always tried to remember that craving is nothing compared to the cravings that happen if you can only have one drink!

Uggg, running out of booze when I was drinking daily always sucked.

I also like telling that voice I'm never going to drink again, ever, and feeling it squirm and die a bit.

This place is so cool
I never knew I’d quit until this time
I cannot control the mess ups I’ve already done but I can keep from doing more
The anxiety is exhausting but it’s what must happen for awhile

The anxiety will ease up, tired - it takes a while. 5 days is wonderful - you're doing this.

It's good to be prepared but make sure you enjoy the absence of cravings and don't waste that time anticipating the next x

Good job getting through it. Keep reminding yourself about all the good things coming if you keep fighting through those cravings. My favorite so far at 29 days is looking forward to waking up in the morning without guilt, intense shame, sickness, headache, blurey vision, ect. Now I feel good, I sleep better, I feel refreshed. It gets better each day. A piece of candy if I am having a bad craving helps. Hang in there, so proud of you for getting through that craving.
