Nervous Newbie
Welcome. Glad you found us.
This forum has been a massive support to me since getting sober. It's also the best moderated forum I've ever come across. Honestly - people get more abusive on mumsnet or whatever its called lol.
Why not just let us know where you are with things and why you joined Just so we can get to know you a bit. For example, for me, I'm now just over 3.5 years sober, and I come here to benefit from a community where people understand what it was like getting sober, and the importance of working on my recovery every day to my sobriety is calm and healthy. And talking to newly sober people and those struggling to get sober helps me remember the importance of never slipping back to where I escaped from.

Hello and welcome, fellow New Yorker - very happy to have you with us. This is a great place for encouragement. I got sober after 30 yrs. thanks to the friendship & understanding I found here.
Bigj you ask how to get involved.... you just did.
That is the wonderful thing about SR. All you have to do is post and you are in a conversation. Ditto on reading. Read and read and then read some more. There is so much wisdom in the threads and posts here - they come from people who have lived it.

Welcome! These guys are amazing, so supportive and encouraging.
It is good that you are nervous - it means you really care about getting sober. Just focus on one day at a time and relish every morning you wake up feeling fresh and hangover-free. Put the money you would have spent on booze in a jar and watch it grow - day ten now and I have saved at least £100 now!
The peace of mind is also wonderful - no more worrying: so...how did I make a total arse of myself this time You can do this!

Yes - it's reaching us lol.
I must say, I find the desktop version of the site easier to suss out. If you scroll down down down down down the screen you'll see a bar going across the page that offers the option to switch to the desktop version. Might be worth a go.
