Joint pain after quitting

Anybody else experience joint pain after giving up the devil water? Since I’ve quit I’ve been experiencing sore ankles and knees. No swelling just stiffness and sore. I have one bad ankle from years of sports injuries, so that’s ok however my “good” ankle and knees hurt quite often. Any thoughts from you good people?

I'm around your age and have lived a 'hard life' with sports, manual labor jobs when younger,ect... I did notice the creaking /cracking of joints and knees more when I got sober. I just chalk it up to my age/previous lifestyle. Sure beats the hell out of dealing with cracked ribs from falling down stairs drunk.

It's possible that the alcohol was numbing the pain you're feeling now. I know I wasn't paying attention to my physical health when I was drinking, so I began to notice some things when I stopped drinking. It might be worth talking to a dr if the pain continues.

Thanks guys. I need to lose a little weight as well. So that’ll take a little pressure off the lower half anyways. Start the dreaded gym cycle Sunday. Seems like a lot of work huh? Haha.

So if you're about a week sober, it could be part of the physical withdrawal. Give it some time to see if it gets better.

Actually had some tonight, at 90+ days, and I’m 32. A little ibuprofen should fix me right up. Keep powering through!
