I made it to day 8!
I'm on day 8 today. With the exception of this past May into June, in which I quit for a month and relapsed, I haven't made it this far in five years. I'm feeling really good about it this time, and don't crave wine like I have when quitting in the past. I find that reading memoirs of recovering alcoholics help a LOT, because they help me see just how bad it can get.
You see, I've never lost a job, gotten a DUI or crashed a car, been arrested, etc. Heck, I never really even drove drunk. I have, however, made a complete fool out of myself many, many times. But I know this is a progressive disease, and that's what's coming if I don't nip this in the bud now. Thankfully, I'm making this decision while I still have my kids, own my home and car, have a wonderful job, wonderful man, and my sanity.
Here's to us and our recovery from this poison! XOXO

Way to go Courtney Love !
I have to admit.. I dodged a bunch of bullets in my "days" .
So I can relate to your post and quitting now.....
I quit .. 18 months ago. It hasn't been 100% and hasn't been easy. But the continued will to be sober overwhelms the desire to drink.
This is where I need to be.... I thank the Lord every day.
Good Luck!!!! Stay strong and use every bit of help that is available to you.
Way to go on 8 days.. Keep it going!

Nice job courtneylove140! Yes, all of those bad things that haven't happened to you need to be qualified with a 'yet'. Addiction is an elevator ride down to hell. Seems as if you chose to get off at a decently high floor. Take time to celebrate your accomplishment so far and your resolve to turn Day 8 into Day 80 and 800. Great work!

I can SO relate to you ! Day 8 for me.. haven't gone this long without wine in over 15 years... I have also dodged some bullets in my past. And the wine was getting easier and easier to pour down my VERY thirsty throat!
I too still have a loving husband, kids and good job! And my health..
