Hi all. New here and I am so thankful to have found this message board.
Saturday was my birthday and I had way too much wine, tripped and hit my head and wound up in the ER for a few hours. I'm beyond mortified and have decided that it's time to give up alcohol for good.
I've been consistently cutting down in the past but after this weekend all of the progress I've made really feels for naught. However, I now know that I really have to quit 100% - I don't want to live like this anymore.
I look forward to my birthday last year and being truly free from alcohol for a year. I look forward to speaking with you all on here.

Welcome to SR, as you can see there is a ton of support here. As Dee said, next year at this time your sobriety might be the best gift you could give yourself. If you can stick with it, you won't regret it.

Hi djm527
Happy belated birthday wishes for Saturday. It's my birthday tomorrow and I will be sober...as I was for my birthday last year...it's just unfortunate that there has been 11 months in between when alcohol has been present in my life. That is not my intention this time...by this time next year I will have had 1 year of thriving in sobriety 😊
