Day 1.

A few minutes past midnight here in the UK. I guess my journey has officially started.

Good to hear. Just hang in there and it will get easier.
I was on your spot just 26 days ago.
It's still a struggle but not even close to those first few days.

Just don't give up. Good support here. The doctors can help and meetings.

Keep posting so we can hear how your doing or if you want advice.

Thanks friends.

Just over half way through, have to admit I don't feel great.

If you are at all concerned about your symptoms or how you feel, it may be a good idea to go to your doctor or to A&E. A medically supervised detox could make this process much easier for you.

We are here for you.

9pm.

Had a pressure headache all day, an unquenchable thirst and a bad stomach but I'm happy I'm going to do this.

Just be good to get the first 24 hours under my belt.

Hi Tynesider - i'm on Day 4 - just a little ahead of you - but already feeling much better than I did on Day 1. Give it a couple of days.

By my calculation you have only 1 hr and 35 minutes to go until Day 2 arrives (at the time of writing). Each hour that goes by puts some distance between you and the booze. Keep going!

We're proud of you, Tynesider. We know how rough those first few days are. Everything will settle down - & you'll be free.

Hang in there, Tynesider! I use to count the hours from my last drink. I did that for a whole week! I just needed to feel rewarded for each hour I was cleansing my body from the alcohol. Each hour I was detoxing was getting me closer to getting a new start on life! Stay hydrated. The days get better!

The pubs are shut, the shops are shut, I have no access to alcohol. I never thought I'd get a day 1 out of the way but I it's looking like I have done.

Thanks everyone. Day 2 will soon be here.

Hi ,
I'm on day 7 now . The first couple of days I was obsessed, thinking about alcohol how much I wanted and didn't want it. I had to to get angry! Not at myself but at the vodka and what it does . Day 3 I said **** it , I can't think about it all day long . I looked for distractions. Jobs that didn't get done because I was in a stupor or in bed hungover. Update the the laptop, new music for iPod. Clean everything !! Organise.
Wishing you well for day 2 . Nothing worthwhile is easy but remember to read posts, come back and post often . Good luck Tynesider you got this by the scruff!

You got this - every day gets just a little bit easier. Make it your goal to never have another day 1!
