I'm feeling blessed to have found the SR forum and am hopeful of finding help and support among you. I'm 64 and a life-long heavy drinker. My longest time of sobriety and abstinence has been a little over 100 days. Pitiful, I know.

I'm new to this site and hoping to find good advice and support among you. I'm 64 years old and a near-daily heavy drinker. My longest time of sobriety was about 100 days: sad, I know. If I make it thru today, it will be my first sober day in a long time. Prayers appreciated.
Hello and welcome.
I was a daily drinker, too. A hundred days isn't sad, it's a great accomplishment.
Especially for a drunk like me who, in the beginning of trying to get sober, couldn't put together two days.
If I make it through today, I'll have over six years sober. So, stopping is possible, and I was a serious, bad drunk.
You'll find lots of support here.
Sending prayers your way.

Ho0sier - It's great to have you with us.
I was older too when I finally decided to stop. I'd been drinking 30 yrs. In the end, it was all day. I don't know why it took me so long to realize that one drink leads to 10. I wasted many years trying to cut down & use willpower. It helped me a lot to post & read here. You are not alone.

Right there with you. I'm 61 and drank straight vodka for 30 years, with a five year break of sober time. Relapsed 7 years ago and it of course got worse. I come here everyday and it has helped this gal stay sober and present for 2 weeks. Prayers are with you and know that you are never alone.
Hi ho0sier1953

Welcome to SR. I was a daily drinker. Ugh. You're in the right spot for support. 100 days isn't pathetic, it's super. I couldn't string together a half a day, let alone 100. You can do one day. Prayers for you and keep coming back.
