Sun,
Wanting to quit is half the battle. We have thrown our hat in the ring.
You seem to know what to expect.
Post here for support.
Each time someone comments it kicks the post to the front so others might see it.
Stay clean.
Thanks.

Thanks for posting-knowing that it´s a real problem is truly important.
I found AA meetings near me and called a hotline for help. There are resources such as SMART Recovery, too, but if you´re proactive you´ll figure it out!
Best of luck!

Since you've had many seizures in the past, you really need to talk to your dr about the safest way for you to stop drinking.
In general, tapering is almost impossible for alcoholics. Most of us here have tried and failed, and I usually ended up in a worse situation. However, if your dr gives you a plan to taper due to your seizures, and he is following your progress, then you should follow it.

Welcome Sunrize
What you want most is no more seizures.
You may be to get some medical advice at places like this?
There are a lot of free or low cost clinics around - if there's one in your local area you might get some medical advice there?

I'm glad you joined us, Sunrize. Posting here & talking things over with those who understand made all the difference to me. I had felt all alone before finding SR. I hope you'll keep reading & posting. You sound ready to be free of it. You can do it!
For most of us will power was never enough. There are some great resources here on creating a sobriety plan which will dramatically increase your chances of success.
Welcome, Sunrize. SR is a wonderful place for support and advice and I'm glad you are here. I didn't have insurance either but went to a detox run by our county; it was low-cost, sliding scale and I was treated with compassion and dignity. I did have a seizure while I was there and spent a week in hospital before heading to rehab. It could have been disastrous had I tried to do this by myself. I wish you all the best and I am praying for you.
